Lauren Smallwood

Lauren Smallwood

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM)

Dr. Smallwood is a veterinarian born and raised in East Tennessee. She graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023 with an interest in equine ambulatory and internal medicine. She interned at McKinlay and Peters Equine Hospital in Spokane, Washington from 2023-2024 where she gained further experience managing referral equine cases.

Dr. Smallwood rode hunter jumpers as a young equestrian and adopted a young rescue Tennessee Walking Horse who became the catalyst for her love of equine medicine. In her free time, she enjoys simply spending time with the now retired TWH, Hotch, and his little pony companion, Loki, who is learning to drive. She can also be found hiking anywhere there is a trail with her dogs Dharma and Diaval; maybe with senior cat, Cassie, in tow in his backpack.

Dr. Smallwood joined Cherry Creek Equine in 2024 and cannot wait to enjoy what Colorado has to offer.
